My goal for this post is to show you the most reliable cars that have the least amount of maintenance needed and that will last a very long time.
The number one most reliable car is the Honda Accord. The Accord has optional 4 cylinder with 190 hp, that gets 22 hwy mpg and 31 city mpg, or the V6 which has 271 hp, that gets 19 hwy mpg and 28 city mpg. New they range from $22,000 to $31,000. Used depending on the mileage, and year (2000 and newer), they range form $10,000 to $20,000.

5-year retained value: 52 %
#3 Infiniti G37

Even though you might not have the money to buy any of these cars new, you now know what to look for in a used auto trader. Around here the best magazine to look at for used cars is the Auto Hunter; the best website to look at is Craigslist.org
It's funny the Mini Copper after 5 years retains its value up to 52% for resale, yet Mini is on the 10 least dependable manufactors.
Each and every car is a little bit different. Each car is going to have its own problems. Two of the same car, same year, same model, will have different problems. It's all in how the car is treated and driven and also, the metal cars use are always different; some have imperfections, some don't, so every car is going to have its own problems.
